CORNO GRANDE 2912 mt.
Is the highest group of the Gran Sasso
and is formed by a long ridge along which
line the four main peaks separated by a
band. Majestic Dolomites, looks like a
giant pyramid that dominates the conca
Aquilana and the hills that slope down
Teramo. From its summit you can admire the
broader landscape of Italy, with a radius
of 200 km that covers almost all the
mountains, the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian
seas in the days and very clear lines of
Gargano and Islands Tremiti going to end
up up to Dalmatia.

CORNO PICCOLO 2655 mt.
Rises to the
north-west of Western Summit of Big Horn,
which is separated from the Saddle Two
Horns. From the summit of Corno Piccolo
dipartono three ridges:
CREST NORTH-EAST - Arapietra down on
grassland near the chair lift to Prati di
Tivo, SOUTH CREST - after a series of
towers goes on Saddle Two Horns; CRESTA
WEST - with three protrusions majestic
falls on Val Maona. The east wall
overlooking the valley of Cornacchie,
covers the north wall Prati di Tivo and
Vomano Valley, the south wall looks the
Vallone dei Ginepri and Pizzo Intermesoli.

MONTE CAMICIA 2564 mt.
Fascinating mountain, at Campo Imperatore
(south), descends through a series of
hillocks and pine forest on the plain of
Source Vetica, north instead precipitates
with a wall of over 1200 meters in the
hills of Teramo. The characteristic of
this mountain is the diversity of the two
sides, the southern rounded up and grassy,
rocky and rugged than northern Europe. The
mountain is home to rare plants, among
which, the Apennine edelweiss. At 2080
meters, the resurgence springs higher
dell'Appennino, Fonte Grotta, by the clear
waters and de-frosts. It 'a very popular
destination. It can easily reached by
Source Vetica for the path that climbs up
into the pine forest and between small
plane bends and re-grass in less than two
hours we reach the goal.

MONTE PRENA 2561 mt.
Beautiful mountain ,
to the south with its steep gullies where
snow remains until early summer falls on
Campo Imperatore. It 'a big triangle
rocky, with lots of spikes and canals,
wild and hard, limestone cliffs and towers
give it something really Dantesque hell,
the movie landscape that provides the
western valley of hell, is something truly
spectacular. Every now and then meet in
small areas where green grow the Apennine
edelweiss. This top is for real experts.
It has no real walls, but its ridges make
it an excellent training ground for hikers
and mountaineers. And 'certainly one of
the most spectacular of the mountains of
Abruzzo.

MONTE BOLZA 1901 mt.
Going from Castel
del Monte, it is immediately in front with
its shape, a pyramid nearly perfect 1901
meters high. The many beautiful creeks,
ravines and was leading towards the
mountain. Several paths lead to the top.

MONTE CORVO 2623 mt.
Is 'the first of
three massive between Passo delle
Capannelle Vado di Sole and from the west,

between the Sella di Monte Aquila and I

PIZZO CEFALONE 2533 mt.
Beautiful mountain
very popular due to its proximity to
Rifugio Duca degli Abruzzi, and at Campo
Imperatore. Pizzo, lonely and wild can be
reached through the wide and steep valley
of the Portella. On the Venacquaro stony
pastures and find what looks to L'Aquila,
however, is cut by deep gullies, the
precipitates Cefalonia finally Campo
Pericoli with an imposing rock wall.

MONTE BRANCASTELLO 2385 mt.
To the east of Vado
di Corno which divides sharply into two of
the Gran Sasso chain, is easily reachable
from Campo Imperatore.

PIZZO INTERMESOLI 2635 mt.
A large
pyramid-shaped and compact stands between
the wild Venacquaro Valley and Val Maona
which falls under its mighty wall east.

MONTE SAN FRANCO 2132 mt.
Is situated at the
western tip of the chain, east of Passo
delle Capannelle. Magnificent view on
conca dell'Aquila and Lake Campotosto. The
northern slope is covered by a mixed
forest of beech, silver fir and maple,
while the South is dotted with dozens of
sources. There is the Apennine edelweiss.

MONTE TREMOGGIA 2331 mt.
Is situated east of Monte Camicia, beautiful
landscapes.

MONTE SIELLA 2027 mt.
Is encountered
before crossing road Vado di Sole, an hour
and a half from Source Vetica. It 'the
last great mountain to the Adriatic, green
and full of bloom of edelweiss. Accessible
by Source Vetica along the path through
the pine forest.

CAMPO IMPERATORE
Campo Imperatore
is a plateau at about 2000 meters
altitude. in the middle of the massif of
the Gran Sasso d'Italia. It stretches over
15 km long and 5 wide. It 'also called the
Tibet of Abruzzo, the view is magnificent,
takes away your breath. Campo Imperatore
can be reached via a 100-seat cable car
running from Fonte Cerreto (1150 m asl)
and takes only 7 minutes to complete the
journey, or from the point of Vado di Sole
Farindola or from Castel del Monte .. It
is also home to a botanical garden and one
of the most important astronomical
observatories in Italy. In 1943, at the
Campo Imperatore, was Benito Mussolini
held prisoner until his release made by
the German soldiers. Campo Imperatore is
home to a ski resort with 3 lifts and
includes 15 km of trails for alpine skiing
and 60 km for Nordic skiing. It is the
first station scistica born in Italy in
the Apennines, and by far the oldest that
still functions today. The site was
repeatedly arrival times at one stage of
the Giro d'Italia. At the last, that of
May 22 of 1999, the winner was Marco
Pantani.
On 4 August 2006 was inaugurated at Campo
Imperatore, the first batch of the great
horse of the Gran Sasso, the longest in
Italy, developing a total length of 320
km, all in the territory of the Parco
Nazionale del Gran Sasso and Monti della
Laga.

FONTE VETICA
Mount Camicia, is
the highest of the coastal watersheds of
the Gran Sasso. On Campo Imperatore
(south), with soft bumps down, apart from
a number of paretine below the summit,
overlooking the pine forest and the plain
of Vetica Source. The forest consists of
spruce and white from where numerous paths
marked with signs for wonderful hiking.
From here you can reach Monte Siella,
Mount Camicia and Mount Tremoggia.

VALLONE D'ANGORA
Is 'a deep split
in the wild and inhospitable landscape
decidedly unique. The spikes of rock that
you insinuate faggieta nest in many
species of raptors such as the rare Chough
coral. Within this beautiful valley are
the source Tavo going to plow the Val
d'Angri then head towards the Adriatic.
